The New Hampshire Lawyers Assistance Program's (NHLAP) Health & Recovery Monitoring Program is dedicated to supporting legal professionals who are facing challenges such as substance misuse, addiction, mental health issues, stress, burnout, workplace conflicts, or concerns about professionalism. Whether these issues are self-identified or have been brought to the attention of employers or disciplinary boards, we are here to help.
Through the NHLAP Health & Recovery Monitoring Program, we offer a compassionate and confidential resource for lawyers, judges, and law students affected by mental health conditions or substance use disorders. Our mission is to facilitate the restoration of competency and fitness to practice by providing comprehensive evaluations and tailored treatment plans, all closely monitored by our experienced team.
We believe that early intervention and effective treatment offer the best chances for positive outcomes. By proactively addressing health issues, we can prevent them from escalating into serious work-related problems. If you are experiencing issues that may affect your bar membership, the NHLAP can collaborate with the New Hampshire Attorney Discipline Office, the Judicial Conduct Committee, and the Committee on Character and Fitness-only with your explicit written consent-to support, monitor, and document your recovery efforts.
Best of all, participation in the NHLAP is completely free of charge and strictly confidential, as required by New Hampshire Supreme Court Rule 58. Additionally, under Rule 8.3, our dedicated staff and volunteers are relieved from reporting attorney misconduct, allowing you to seek help without the fear of jeopardizing your career.
Take a step towards a healthier and more fulfilling professional life-reach out to NHLAP today. You are not alone, and we are here to support you on your journey to recovery.
